Over the course of the year, I will be uploading samples of what the students feel is their best work. Some of the things I will encourage the students to write are:
- students' memoirs
- names of Connecticut Representatives and Senators
- written essays
- short stories
- poetry
Check back frequently for updates of student work on this page so that you can monitor your progress!

A portfolio can be a physical compilation of student work, or an interactive one via the web. It is a great way for students, parents and teachers to evaluate progress.
Characteristics of a Good Portfolio
A portfolio should be a reflection of the progress that a student has made over a significant period of time. It provides both formative and summative information, contains a wide variety of artifacts, and allows for collaborative reflection for students to use with their peers. It shows the strengths and weaknesses of their pieces, and is personally favored by the student. It helps te students generate ideas of what "good work" is. In this way, a portfolio helps raise a student's self-awareness and can potentially boost their self-esteem.
